Installing Skype On Windows XP SP2 - Page 2. Thank you for your kind response. Not sure whom you are working for, microbull corp. Just to add few points on what made me & many others angry, and more than just angry on these "forced upgrades for your convenience" innovations: - first, I've used XP for the last 1. OS, especially Xp SP2, which I've used for the last 9 years. Last OS reinstall had been done over 6 years ago, hence, I had everything configured the way I want, numerous applications, settings, drivers, etc.
Yes, my PC is qute old, its P4 2. Gz, 2 Gb RAM Dimention 4. XP SP2. I used to work as a technician back few years ago, let me tell you, XP SP2 works way faster then useless Vista, or even improved Vista (meaning Windows 7, which is not bad), had it tested too many times, no need to compare benchmarks, etc.

But it is a fact, XP SP2 is the OS that many many ppl are still using these days without any intention to upgrade. SP3 is a disaster, to me at least, I've upgraded to SP3 for the reason of Skype. What I've got - still Skype connection problem, and OS reinstall is needed as control panel, networking and installation services are corrupted as a result of SP3 upgrade, PC performance noticeably slowed down, even mouse is working weird now, cannot reverse back to SP2 unfortunately, tried all workarounds, including system restore and recovery console, all to vain. OS reinstall doesn't take long, but configuring all the apps that I need, drivers, etc. Skype, I wish you never interfered into this once great product on the first place..

PC's are used by many as a communication tool, plus some browsing and maybe typing up few odd letters in MS Word, this is the majority I am talking about. Ppl don't want constant updates because of constant security threats and PC restarts several times a day, therefore, I do not use updates, or any antiviruses for the last 5 years and doing fine - thats just me, unexperienced users should have antiviruses installed, although some of them, particulary Norton slows down your system more than any virus itself.. To finish my point - many ppl are not interested, or to be more precise, do not want to upgrade, microbull should not be telling them to upgrade either, it is a very intrussive & rogue way to do business..- 2nd thing, they did not have to block authorisation for older version, if they don't want to support older versions, fine, there are many folks out there who would do that for them, why blocking authorisation all of sudden.
In comparison, its like a filling station would refuse to sell petrol for cars older than 5 years old motivating it with "better enhanced user experience" for newer car owners, do you read me, yeah, experience my arse, hypocrites, that's all, its purely monetary gain, along with busting hardware sales, all interconnected, so do not tell me it is not a conspiracy..- 3rd thing, majority of Skype users are older generations, pensioners who use it to communicate with their children overseas, etc. Tell them to upgrade OS, upgrade hardware, buy new PC in most cases to continue using Skype - its nonsense. Those profit driven folks in ms skype division leadership team unfortunately do not care about that much.. MS bought Skype in 2. OS's - Vista and Windows 8 are joke, Win 8 requires more testing, lots of unnecessary services, apps with ads all over the place, require heavy spec. Windows 7 is perhaps an exception in all of this, however, I would still go with XP and no one is going to tell me with OS I should be using to use Skype.. The only way forward is to start using alternative communication tools, such as: - Jitsi- Viber- Google Hangouts- oo.
Voo. I am sure there will be other alternative free applications with skype like interface and functionality coming up to the market since microbull is forcing its audience to alienate them for this stupid, unethical philosophy.. MAX REPOST PLEASE...
